Fujifilm FinePix X100 Test

High-tech for high photographic claim in a retro-look: With the Fujifilm FinePix X100 start coming to market, Fujifilm apparently targeted the same segment as the Leica X1. Fujifilm Finepix X100 comes with leather coating and a high-quality magnesium-alloy body.

But more important are the inner values; a 12-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, as used in many D-SLR. This should guarantee high quality images under low light condition and low-noise images. Optimized for the sensor is the fixed focal length of the Fujinon lens with the equivalent of 35 mm.

A new development by Fujifilm is a hybrid viewfinder, which is regarded as the hottest innovation in the digital camera. A light frame was attached on LCD element of the viewfinder, thus, information about set shutter speed, aperture, white balance or sensitivity to light are displayed. Thanks to this LCD element of the optical viewfinder, an electronic, offering a preview of all factors such as white balance and depth of field. Even a 2.8-inch display is on board the FinePix X100, which can like a very good resolution of 460,000 pixels.

In terms of operation, the Fujifilm FinePix X100 is classical. At the prime lens there is an aperture ring (with automatic position) and a focus ring on the mode dial are available semi-automatic and a manual program. Scene modes, there are none, only a fully automatic is available. The X100 offers ISO speeds from 100 to 6400. Unlike the Leica X1, Fujifilm FinePix X100 allows videos recording.
