Sigma SD1: How good is it?

Regardless its powerful technical equipment, Sigma SD1 at first glance likes a traditional SLR camera. The case affords no frills and very excellent in hand. It comes with robust magnesium casing for maximum protection even in outdoor purpose. The weight stays the same at an acceptable level - very commendable! Overall, the appearance differs markedly from that of SD14 and SD15.

Operating concept of the SD1 relies entirely on traditional dials, and direct-access buttons - that is well-known and well used to work for this unit. The image quality can be described as superb: Sigma SD1 convinced with great color reproduction, a strong resolution and a very good contrast.

Sigma SD1

The biggest obstacle to this purchase would be the price. By comparison, Sigma SD1 probably costs about four times as much as the current Canon flagship. At the end of the day most of the photographers with the latter will be operated entirely sufficient, as 46 megapixels in daily practice are rarely applied and can hardly be seriously exhausted.

Conclusion

Sigma SD1 is definitely a camera of superlatives, the only appeals to the pros "with an abundant budget”.
