From raw photo developer Raw Photo Processor, a new version was introduced. For the first time the program as a 64-bit version has been released. In addition, the program supports new digital camera raw data. The converter is free and available only for Mac OS X.
The Raw Photo Processor (RPP) can convert raw data from digital cameras in common formats such as TIFF and JPEG. RPP is developed by Andrey Tverdokhleb and supports a variety of digital camera raw formats. The new version 4.3.1 is now a pure 64-bit application, which will provide speed advantages for large RAW files.
In addition, the program can now also work with the raw images from Canon 1100D and the Olympus E-P3. The raw data converter saves tiffs in the Lab or RGB color mode with 16 or 8 bit color depth and JPEGs. Besides the unusual beta-RGB color profile, sRGB and ECI-RGB and sRGB support V4. Beginners should first work in the sRGB color profile.
The program provides detailed results in many situations such as Adobe's Camera RAW (ACR).
However, Adobe's application can be significantly easier to use. Raw Photo Processor is missing the real-time preview of the settings. This function is rejected by developers because they only reflect the conversion results would be inaccurate.
The Raw Photo Processor is running on Mac OS X 10.4 or higher with 32 bit - the new version for Mac OS X 10.6 with 64-bit works. The program is free. For a donation unlocks the author of the Adobe Lightroom export and multi-CPU support.
