Photovine: What can we expect Google's photo-network?

Google is serious about his campaign Web 2011: After the social network "+ Google" is now "Photovine".

Underlying this is an online image management service of a very special style: "Photovine" - which translates as "vine photo" - functions as a place to put pictures on a particular topic. Users of the service, which primarily relies on a special app for smartphones should, upload photos to a specific topic, such as "love", "Party" or "holiday". In this way, a huge theme-based photo archives to develop which is fundamentally different from the past, themes unbound services like "Flickr" or "Picasa."

The image sets are first reportedly sighted by Photovine staff and moderated. What features will be available to users is still unknown.

"Photovine" comes from the pen of Slide. The company, which operates among other things, the MySpace widget service Slide.com and has gained recently with the app "Color" a lot of experience with mobile photo applications, has been specially taken for the development of such services from Google.

The use of "Photovine" will be free. When it goes off is just not clear yet: currently finds itself under the domain name only a teaser page. Surprising edge detail: the teaser cover picture shows an iPhone from Apple's competitors and an Android smartphone from the Google camp.
