Samsung urges U.S. import ban on Osram

The situation in the highly competitive market of LED products heats up: Samsung calls from Osram damages because of alleged violations license - and has the same complaints on the neck itself.

The South Korean electronics group Samsung (189.8 -0.82%) asked in a patent dispute with the Siemens subsidiary Osram the U.S. authorities to an import ban. In an action brought before a district court in the State of Delaware called for the group division because of alleged licensing violations Samsung LED also undisclosed amount of damages the Munich-based company.

The advance is part of a wider dispute in the competitive market for LED products. The forthcoming IPO lighting company Osram early June had sued Samsung for its part, and also the South Korean company LG Group for alleged patent violations. Samsung had already responded shortly thereafter with a countersuit against Osram Korea.
