Nikon Corp. Will Enter the Market of Mirrorless Digital Camera

Nikon Corp. will enter the market for lightweight, interchangeable lens digital camera and launch the first product in the design mirrorless end of this year, the Nikkei business daily reported.

The company is pricing the camera, the lens also mirrorless 70000-100 yen, 000 yen (USD 900-1300), which is equivalent to offerings of its competitors', the newspaper said.

Despite dominating the global market for digital SLRs, Nikon and Canon Inc. have entered the category of interchangeable lens digital camera mirrorless, started by Panasonic Corp. in 2008, the daily reported.

Nikkei said Canon also reported the research team and other technologies to develop small, lightweight digital cameras and can enter the market in the future.

Compact digital camera prices come down, mirrorless SLR version can help to cover the bottom of the camera manufacturers, "the newspaper said.
