Ricoh GR Digital IV Unveiled

Ricoh GR Digital IV the successor to the Ricoh GR Digital III comes with the 7.5-inch rear-screen. This is a new technology and the first coming at the GR Digital IV. One of the primary colors red, green and blue is joined by a white pixel, making the screen brightness will increase by a factor of 1.7. Also new is an automatic adjustment of the screen brightness to ambient light. Thanks to the optimized lens, so that the focal length of the purely mechanical viewfinder can be adjusted.

Ricoh GR< Digital IV remains at a focal length of 28 mm according at a light intensity of image F1, 9. The CCD image sensor is proven on GR Digital III digital camera and is 1 / 1, 7 inches tall, so promises a similar image quality as the premium compact cameras from other manufacturers. What is new is the movable mounting of the image sensor; mechanical image stabilization is implemented by the sensor moves towards the blurring of the photographer. Up to 3.2 EV steps longer exposure times (factor 9.2) should be possible.

Also new is the hybrid auto focus: top left above the lens, a sensor with 190 measuring points, measuring the distance to the subject. This works together with the contrast detection auto focus on the image sensor. This should result in a doubling of the auto focus speed compared with the GR Digital III, so that the Ricoh GR Digital IV is now to focus within 0.2 seconds. For macro shots, although still only the contrast AF active, the response time reduced by half. The direct way, by pressing the shutter button returns only the external autofocus sensor, the distance data, which can even be displayed on the screen.

Ricoh GR Digital IV: Quality

The picture quality is also improved. These are measures such as more sophisticated optical filter, contributing an optimized image processing, and improved white balance algorithm and a more effective removal of color noise. Another new feature is the multiple-exposure interval. The digital camera takes pictures at specified time intervals and superimposed them automatically to a photo. The image effects such as black and white or cross-development that are available in all exposure modes P / A / S / M to disposal, are joined by two new effects, slide film and Bleach Bypass. The latter decreases the color saturation while increasing contrast. New feature on Ricoh GR Digital IV is the possibility of Bulb-long exposure in the mode T and B. This means that is selectively exposed as long as the shutter button is pressed (B), or starts the exposure at the first press of the shutter and stops at the second (T).

The individualization of the GR Digital IV has also improved: On the two can Fn1 Fn2 and four different preset combinations of functions. The number of memory has also been expanded from six to twelve. The settings are saved on the SD memory card store and exchange ideas with other photographers.

The optional accessories for the GR Digital III are also used at Ricoh GR Digital IV. For example, flash, viewfinder, wide-angle converter, lens hood, cable release, bags, shoulder strap, AC adapter, etc. The new accessories are a leather strap and a metal lens cap, which prevents switching and thus the inadvertent extension of the lens.

The lithium-ion rechargeable battery survives for about 370 shots by CIPA measurement method. Alternatively, two AAA batteries (or rechargeable) can be used, with two alkaline batteries will last for only 25 shots by CIPA.

Ricoh GR Digital IV: Release Date

Ricoh already announces to extend the functionality of the GR Digital IV as well as the previous models using constant firmware updates.
