Canon’s New Technology Thunderbolt

According to Intel, Canon has expressed interest in Thunderbolt technology. Hiroo Adakubo, head of Video products said that Canon Thunderbolt will brings new simplicity and performance to the video production market.

Thunderbolt was developed under the name Light Peak and promises data rates of 10 Gb / s. This would make it much faster than the also relatively new USB 3.0. Furthermore, a chain can be of several devices - such as a monitor, hard drive and RAID camera - hang on a bush. The copper wire used for this is very thin and can be up to three meters long. Thunderbolt is considered the successor to FireWire.
