3D Images: Which one is better?

The 3D technology leaps toward digital cameras and camcorders.

So far, the supply of affordable products is still limited: Sony and Panasonic are experimenting with the technology, but price is absolutely high and premium. Most previously available 3D digital cameras work with two lenses that are mounted at a slight distance from each other on the camera's front are. At the moment of release accordingly two slightly offset pictures to be taken.

Then the image of the left and the right lens is placed over each other. When considering a corresponding 3D-compatible TV or a 3D-capable digital camera control panel, the two images will eventually appear in quick succession. In this way the user gets two minimally different images to see, from which the human brain ultimately derives the spatial effect.

Meanwhile, the first 3D digital cameras with one lens are available. These entail mainly a price advantage and should the proliferation of 3D-enabled digital cameras in the future to boost significantly: Since, as in ordinary Ultra compact cameras only one lens is needed can be developed cost advantages in manufacturing and passed on to the end user. A disadvantage is the fact that such digital cameras to record only still images 3D images and no 3D-capable video - the latter will continue to be the only dual lens digital cameras withheld. Purely qualitative differences are marginal at least at present, so that price-conscious and at the same time experimental users better off with a single lens.

Among the producers currently are Sony, Panasonic and Olympus are the driving forces behind the establishment of 3D digital cameras. Above all, try Olympus models currently single and double lens: With the SP-610UZ, the TG 610 and TG-310 are three current models. Sony provides other hand, various conventional ultra-compact cameras from the DSC-series, after all, have a 3-D panorama mode on board. The commercial appeal of such digital cameras will sometimes be limited. As in the TV area, the producers have, however, the issue has already bitten 3D vigorous, so that in future, a greater variety of models, as expected, a general fall in prices.
