Donated Camera Leads to Investigation

A camera left at a Pensacola thrift store in December appears to contain photographs of a young girl being sexually abused, a Pensacola Police Department spokeswoman said.
Investigators are trying to identify a daycare facility attended by the girl the photographs.
The police department received a report on Dec. 14 from the Loaves and Fishes Thrift Store, 1620 N. Palafox St., that the digital camera containing the questionable photos was left as a donation.

Detective Chris Wilkinson visited several area daycare centers in schools, churches and stand-alone businesses and interviewed a number of people. Police hope routine images from a donated digital camera that contained other photos of a young girl being sexually abused will help them find the girl.

Along with the graphic photos of the girl being abused, there are photos of what appears to be a day care center and of a living area, Wilkinson said.

An aggressive attempt is continuing by law enforcement to identify a daycare facility attended by a female child believed to have been sexually abused.

As a result of the disk, Detective Chris Wilkinson has visited dozens of area daycare facilities in schools, churches and stand-alone businesses and interviewed numerous people, but has been unable to identify any of the children included in photos.

Wilkinson said the children included in the photos may have attended the same facility.
