How to change the depth on Canon EOS Rebel T1i?

With the depth-setting of Canon EOS Rebel T1i, you can blur subject in the foreground or the background.

To do with this, follow this step:

  1. Turn on Canon EOS Rebel T1i
  2. Rotate the mode dial to position "Av".
  3. Now you can set the desired aperture value: Turn the dial clockwise to increase the aperture value or to the left to reduce it. Higher value means sharper image due to a higher depth of field. Simultaneously, the aperture gets smaller. The actual aperture values displayed will depend on the installed lens. No lens is installed, the display remains at "00".
  4. Set the Canon EOS Rebel T1i and press the shutter button. The picture is taken with the set aperture value. Control the outcome in the control screen of the camera and run through a fine-tuning as needed.

If you want both the front, as well as to focus the background, use the smallest possible aperture. If you’d like the background appear blurred, then set the largest possible aperture.
