How to change the measuring method of the exposure on Canon EOS Rebel T1i?

The exposure of your Canon EOS Rebel T1i depends on the chosen method of measurement. For each of the available measurement methods, the brightness of the image is determined on a different way. Basically for most shooting situations, evaluative metering is recommended.

If necessary, the measuring method of Canon EOS Rebel T1i can be changed:

Turn on Canon EOS Rebel T1i

Go into the settings and select the option "measuring method". Confirm your selection with the SET button.

Now you can set the desired method of measurement using the left and right directional pad button and then press "SET". You have the choice between the following options:
- Multi-pattern metering (default): This measurement method is considered to be "rounder" and is suitable for example for backlit subjects (for example, by strong sun), and portraits. The exposure is set automatically depending on the situation of Canon EOS Rebel T1i. In the Basic Zone modes, evaluative metering is automatically activated.
