There are more than 3000 models of digital cameras available on the market currently. All of them come in different specifications, designs, brands and series. You can also buy a digital camera from shops or online retailer, but how to choose the right digital camera for you?
Basically, there are seven criteria to do so:
The design
It determines the photographic opportunities and has significant impact on size and weight. For many camera buyers it is clear from the outset whether they want to have an SLR, an ultra-compact, a bridge or a "normal" model. Nevertheless, it is not wrong to think about the basic preference. Those who like to travel, light and ultra-compact models is preferred, they offer in comparison to the cell phone camera by now little more advantages. A larger model covers a wider zoom range is better in your hand and shake less if you use it for filming. Even the classic SLR, there are alternatives: the new mirror-less system cameras allow the use of interchangeable lenses, but are much smaller and lighter. This is made possible by omitting the optical viewfinder and mirror. This class also includes the "Micro Four Thirds" type.
The megapixel number
This number tells us almost nothing about the picture quality and is therefore irrelevant. You compare the image quality is best by making a few test shots in the photo business. If you are bringing to this end a separate card, you can check the shots behind at rest at home on screen.
The light sensitivity
With a digital camera you can select the ISO value in a particular area. Higher ISO value means more flexibility for photographer in difficult lighting situations. ISO value of 12 800 or more open possibility for candlelight scenes, ISO 6400 and 3200 are great advantage. If you test the light sensitivity, pay attention to the noise: It increases at high ISO values.
The focal range
It refers to the power of the zoom lens. The larger the margin, the freer you are in your picture. New compact cameras have a zoom factor of 15x, 20x or 36x and even more. But watch out not only on how close you can pick up an object - that is on the upper end of the zoom range. Equally important is the starting focal length. A number of 20 to 25 mm indicates that the camera has a wide angle, which allows you to capture a large part of the action.
The setting options
It determines the degree of creative freedom. More ambitious photographers create value in a compact camera to manual mode, in which aperture and shutter speed can be freely adjusted. Those who prefer leaving the technical details of the electronics, checked the scene programs: they specify for common situations such as holidays on the beach or in snow, walks at night or fireworks. For SLRs, the number of photos that can be captured in continuous shooting per second, and the performance of the autofocus are very important.
Raw format (RAW)
It is now the norm in SLRs and is also in some for compact cameras. It has unbeatable advantages for the image processing on the computer.
The special features
The camera manufacturers are always offer camera model for a special condition: cameras that are waterproof and can withstand a fall from a height of several meters. With the SLR, there are now tilting display that allows you to shoot from various angles. Look at these cameras and the fact that the video function and Live View (Composition with the LCD display instead of the viewfinder) are present.
