Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 Digital Camera Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 is a successor or addition to the DMC-FZ45 on the market. It also offers a huge zoom extent of 25 to 600 mm, but has a less-resolution sensor (12 instead of 14 MP), a Full-HD video mode (instead of the small high-definition format) and records images in JPEG format (no RAW). The DMC-FZ48 will be available on August.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48: How Good is it?

With a 3-inch screen (7.5 inches) and above-average resolution of 460,000 pixels, Panasonic FZ48 scores points. The operation is applied too widely targeted: it is the full manual for advanced and semi-automatic exposure, and novice point-and-shoot photographers can confidently rely on the intelligent automatic "iA". In this mode, you can pick out the scene modes from the digital camera, the right, represent by facial recognition and AF tracking people as much as possible and apply the setting of ISO sensitivity and dynamic range optimization as well. Here we do nothing more than to pull the trigger. Many filter modes invite you to play: The list includes such Expressive, retro, high-key color, sepia, high dynamics, Film Grain and Pin Hole. Contrast, sharpness, saturation and degree of noise reduction can be adjusted in the filter modes.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS48 is a bridge camera with an impressive focal range: 25 to 600 mm. The light intensity is f2, 8 to f5, 2 . The macro mode provides a good short-range limit of only one centimeter (wide angle). An optical image stabilizer is on board.

Video can be captured by Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 in Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels at 50i). The films are stored either in AVCHD or mp4. In addition to the regular image stabilizer in the FZ48 is also working an "active" mode that will keep the picture especially when walking or riding quietly. The large 24-fold zoom is also available during the filming, as is the intelligent automatic. While recording video, photos can be shot from 3.5 megapixels, without the recording is stopped.

A 3D mode is also on board, which is calculated from several slightly different three-dimensional photographs. This image can be presented as MPO-compatible devices. A miniaturization effect is included. What also interesting about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 is the list of optional accessories: for the series, there is already polarizing filter, telephoto and close-range lenses, neutral density filters and much more. This is particularly interested in advanced photographers.
The series mode is supposed to have speeds up to 3.7 frames according to the manufacturer / s - which is approaching but still not on digital cameras with true high-speed function. Series are not the specialty of the DMC-FZ48. Only if you reduce the resolution to 3 MP, can be realized series of 10 images / sec.
