Olympus E-PL3 Digital Camera Preview

Olympus E-PL3 is new Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera from the PEN family. The digital camera reveals at the same time as Olympus EP-3 and Olympus E-PM1. According to the manufacturer, these three offer world’s fastest autofocus.

Olympus E-PL3 process pictures with 12.3 megapixels and light sensitivities up to ISO 12,800. If necessary, you can attach an optional external flash system. Olympus has accelerated image processing with a new processor and wants with revised shift image stabilization for more "support" provide housing for shock. In addition to individual images, the digital camera can save videos in full HD quality.

The operating speed is impressive too: That it is the world's fastest autofocus is, should not be seen right away - but soon the focus is beyond doubt. Other plus points accumulated, the Olympus E-PL3 stung with their sharp, flexible, adjustable screen control.

Unfortunately, compared the inner workings in detail, there are not too many differences from the E-PL2. Who already has the latter device, an upgrade should therefore consider very carefully. Very sad is the fact that the camera offers, despite a higher price point, no built-in flash. You may need to adapt these for a hefty surcharge.

Olympus E-PL3: Pre-conclusion

If you already own one of the last PEN cameras you won’t need Olympus E-PL3. However, if you play with the idea of switching to the PEN family, this small, compact premium camera being advanced as a loyal companion in all everyday situations.
