Nikon 85mm f/1.4G AF-S Nikkor Lens

This updated classic mid-range telephoto lens gives very sharp images and a fast f/1.4 aperture ensures a bright viewfinder image and the beautiful background blur. Suitable for portraits, general purpose and low-light work.

Nikon 85mm f/1.4G AF-S Nikkor Lens

I have a previous version of the lens (85mm non-AFS 1.4), and is one of my all time favorite. There is almost magical about it for me - I could hardly take a bad picture with it.

So when Nikon released the updated version, I was somewhat hesitant to upgrade - at least until I went to audition for a new camera lens in one big NYC stores. After using the new lens directly, I could not resist. Now, my own new and older on eBay.

To be clear, with my eyes, no big difference in picture quality, like the old lens is superb in all important. Updated version may be a little sharper in the corners on FX body, color face maybe a little more life, and seems somewhat more vulnerable to light up when you are pointed directly at bright light sources. It focuses on a few inches closer than its predecessor and weighs maybe an ounce or two more. However, it does not like people who are "bad" and other "good" - just a little different, and not all dramatic difference for most users.

For me, where the amount of interest from the new AFS focusing setup, autofocus produce almost immediate and highly accurate. Thanks to the wide f/1.4 aperture, you always get a clear picture, and both my D3 and D300, the focus of blindingly fast and dead-on accurate. It is the only real complaint with my previous lenses, and I found myself often either missing shots since autofocus is slow, or I'll spend a lot of energy is not the focus manually preparing the exact shot would I. Now, with the new 85mm f/1.4G, I get a fantastic picture quality, as well as the handling is much better and faster - and for me, which makes it more useful.

However, the old lens is no slouch, and I guess if I'm not mistaken and a tight budget, I certainly have no problem going with the old lens. Seems to have maybe $ 1,999.00 premium to get the AFS version, although it can be as narrow as a lens that is entered into the market and we see some better discount.

Of course, if you question whether to upgrade, pro-grade Nikon lenses hold their value very well, and although I have not sold mine yet, I think I'll take 80% of what I paid for it when the new few years ago, and that makes the transaction easier to handle.

Highly recommended!

Canon EF 24-70mm Review

Canon EF 24-70mm zoom do not think what a lot of professional standards can not do - which replaces the L-series 28-70mm f/2.8 with something better. The lens will provide greater coverage to the wide-angle 24 mm so, making it ideal for digital and film shooter. The new processing units, in turn, makes the autofocus (AF) is faster than before. And thanks to two aspherical and UD elements of a new series of glass lenses are far superior to the previous lens. The joints are sealed against dust and moisture, the EF 24-70mm has a one year warranty.

The new target is thought that many professionals can not be done - replace the previous L-series 28-70 f/2.8 lens with something better. Extending coverage to the ultra-wide angle 24mm makes it ideal for digital cameras, as well as film shooters, and optical is better than before with two aspherical elements and UD glass elements entirely new. Now is sealed together against dust and moisture, and a new processing unit makes the AF faster than ever.

Canon EF 24-70mm

In April 2005 I bought a Canon 20D with 18-55 lens, my first SLR camera. After becoming used to correctly take pictures with the camera I buy 24-70 as an update of the lens - and what it upgrades. All good things to read about the lens is right ... color, contrast, sharpness, it's amazing how well the lens performs compared with the lens quality customer service.

Many reviews complain that the 24-70 is too heavy, and heavy lens, but not "too" heavy to wear all day. We also regularly use my Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS - goals that might be too heavy for regular use, but also much higher than 24-70.

Notes on discussions everywhere, compared to 24-70 at the new Canon 24-105 f / 4 ... The lens is not built into one or the other, is a different lens intended for different users. The main complaint I see online about 24-70 No image stabilization, a complaint is finally disposed of as irrelevant. I have taken thousands of pictures for this purpose and once you miss a shot because the lens has no IS. In short, the goal is not long enough to ask for the IS.

If you are new to SLR photography to be careful when reading reviews, especially in discussion forums. Like other hobbies (like computers), people in the opinion of a powerful image and tend to have the best and latest that just came out. If you are thinking of buying a lens so expensive and sure whether you should have one or the other, try renting a few days.

Other reviewers commented on this page to use lenses with built-in flash with a 10D. If you buy a $ 1100 Canon lens should know that is not specifically designed for use with flash. Is it possible to assume that if you can spend a huge bonus on the purpose that also can step in and buy a real flash. Examiner has given ranking 5.3 lens for the camera body does not have the correct flash, something that does not exist in the lens at all.

How to create a series of photos with the Ricoh PX?

The Ricoh PX supports the inclusion of photo-series. Here, we wrote a series of still pictures in rapid succession on the memory card. The mode is ideal for capturing fast-moving images, such as at sporting events.

By default, the Ricoh PX digital camera stands when pressing the shutter button to only one shot. Set the camera on the other hand, the recording mode "photo series," takes her away while on single images, as long as you hold down the shutter button. In playback mode, photo-series images first appear as a single photo. The next step, you can browse through the other pictures in the series using the left and right arrow keys.

In addition to the standard photo-series there are still options "S Series" (S-Multi-Shot) and "M Series" (M Multi-Shot). In the "S Series" takes the Ricoh PX to a maximum of 16 images at a speed of up to 7.5 shots per second. Then the images into a single XXL picture with a resolution of 4608 x 3456 pixels are merged. Takes a total inclusion of an S-sequence is only about two seconds.

The M-series differs in one significant detail: As you hold down the shutter button saves the new recordings while away Ricoh PX digital camera. Once you release the shutter, however, only about the last 16 pictures (the last two seconds of recording) is actually stored. Here too, then the compilation of an XXL recording follows with a resolution of 4608 x 3456 pixels.

Digital Compact Camera

Compact cameras are designed to be small and portable and is suitable for use in casual and "snapshot". Therefore, also called point-and-shoot digital camera. Smaller, usually less than 20 mm, which is described as subcompacts or "ultra-compact" and some almost the size of a credit card.

Most, in addition to robust models and resistant to water, including retractable lens assembly which allows the camera has a focal length of fine to medium term and therefore make full use of image sensors larger than a phone camera, and the mechanical lens cover for the lens cap when pulled. The lens is protected from being thrown and locked the keys, coins and other hard objects, so the package, a fine bag. Subcompacts generally has a strength and a short wrist strap helps recovery from his pocket, while the thickness pacts may have two terminals to attach the neck strap.

Compact cameras are usually designed to be easy to use, sacrificing advanced features and image quality of compact size and simplicity, usually only image is stored using lossy compression (JPEG). Most have a built-in flash usually of low power, sufficient for nearby objects. Live preview is almost always used for framing pictures. Most have limited the ability of the films. Covenants typically have macro and zoom capabilities, but the zoom range is usually less than for bridge and DSLR cameras. Global contrast detection autofocus system, using data sources directly from the preview of the main camera, the lens focuses.

Shutter usually these cameras incorporate the blade is almost silent in their lenses.

A lower cost and smaller, the camera usually uses an image sensor that has a diagonal of about 6 mm, according to the crop factor of about 6. Given the weaker low light, more depth of field, more attention overall capacity, and a small part of the digital camera with a bigger sensor.

Since 2011, some compact digital cameras can take pictures in 3D. 3D compact camera can capture panoramic images in stereo 3D for 3D television replays. Some of them are very strong and resistant to water, and some have a GPS, compass, altimeter and barometer.

Panasonic Lumix Series

Lumix is Panasonic brand digital cameras, pocket model from point-and-shoot with a digital SLR.

Compact digital camera DMC-LC5 [1] and DMC-F7 [2] is the first product of its Lumix series was released in 2001. They are equipped with a Leica lens.

Many Lumix models are equipped with a Leica lens designed by German engineer Leica optics and built in Japan. Another thing as a Leica camera with another cosmetic stylings. Leica has a similar relationship with Minolta in the past, where the end of the Leica SLR models (and some 35mm point and shoot model) which is based on Minolta bodies.

Most of the Lumix cameras use different releases of the Panasonic Venus Engine for digital image processing, the original version (2002) followed by II (2004), Plus (2005), III (2006), IV ( 2008), HD, V (2009), and VI, HD II, FHD (2010).

Panasonic manufactures all branded Leica point and shoot digital cameras in Japan, but not film cameras, the Leica M8 or M9 digital Leica rangefinder camera, or the Digital Module R digital camera back to Leica R9 SLR film.

Some cameras come in several colors, indicated by a letter suffix: K Black, S Silver, A blue, R red, W-white. Most low-priced cameras that small sensors about 10.2 mm / 1/2.5 "More expensive sensors tend to have about twice the area, 14.1 mm to 15.4 mm / 01/01/65." To 1/1.8 ";. DSLRs and Micro Four Thirds camera has a larger sensor larger sensor produces a signal-to-image-noise and better dynamic range is better .. GH series Micro Four Thirds cameras have sensors that are unique "multi-aspect ', which is larger than the image circle lens. This allows the use of three different aspect ratios, 3:02 and 04:03 16:09, which is used natively. As a result, the picture remains the same diagonal in all three aspect ratio and provide a full range of the sensor and the larger field of view with resolution higher than one would get by simply cropping aspect ratio of 04:03 in tight.

Some Panasonic and Leica cameras are more or less the same. The difference, in addition to exterior styling clearly, is in the camera firmware. Various application software is also provided by two companies with a digital camera. Claims about the different quality control or leaking unwarranted.

Leica and Panasonic cameras produce the same RAW image, but it is the white balance, noise reduction, etc. differently to output JPEG. Lumix cameras are more expensive than their Leica counterparts because of the marketing strategy of the company.

How to spice up photos?

From ordinary photos are real unique effect through simple: you also miss your recordings a personal touch - otherwise they threaten all too quickly into the ground to sink.

Effects of technical aids

Many digital cameras have built-in creative modes that allow the images can be deliberately distorted by the trip already. The different effects achieved by the pro patches required technical aids, such as by wide-angle, macro and fisheye lens attachments. This allows you to manipulate independently of the host perspective, the "vision" of the camera. Besides filters help to reduce the production of certain specific colors or color gradients. The disadvantage is that items like these can be attached almost exclusively to the system and SLR cameras - ultra compact cameras, however, have left behind. However, the acquisition costs are relatively high.

Playing with the blur

The focus is an essential element of style photography. Even entry-level digital cameras allow you to manipulate the resulting image output parameters (eg exposure time), which quickly and painlessly develop truly unique scenes: When the lights of the city in a gorgeous white winter landscape appear somewhat blurred, creating a surreal "dream effect". Tip: Play with the sharpness settings on the camera around to get a feel for the effect. Would you like to highlight an object, for example, leave this sharp and the background, meanwhile, appear blurred.

Experiments with templates

With templates, you can direct the viewer's gaze in a certain direction. To cut a specific pattern in a black cardboard and hold it at the moment of recording before the lens. Thus can be achieved, for example, a witty binocular optics. Alternatively, you can also "virtual" stencils and masks as part of the computer-processing set on the photo.

If you have a thin pane of glass on hand, you can even go one step further: The thin, horizontal and horizontal lines are purely carved glowing objects intersected by ray-like silhouettes. Such effects can be in the photo editing on computers reach is limited.

Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flash

Further development of Canon's flagship Speedlite has led to the assembly of the 580 EX II. this is often the premier Speedlite for all photographers, together with professionals. Newly designed to match with the EOS-1D Mark III in terms of improved dust- and water-resistance, body strength, and therefore the ability to regulate flash functions and settings from the camera menu (EOS-1D Mark III only). different options embrace improved communication reliability through its direct contacts, and recycling time is each two hundredth shorter than the 580EX and is totally inaudible.

Speedlite 580EX II Flash Highlights:
  • Approximately twenty p.c faster recycling time compared to 580EX
  • Superior build quality, together with a metal foot for higher rigidity
  • Max Guide No. fifty eight at 105mm setting (GN one hundred ninety, feet)
  • Auto conversion of flash coverage with compatible digital SLR cameras
  • White Balance information communicated instantly to compatible digital SLR cameras
  • Full swivel, a hundred and eighty degrees in either direction
  • AF-assist beam, compatible with all AiAF points on each EOS SLR
  • Dust- and water- resistance to match the EOS-1D Mark III

I upgraded from a 420EX to the present 580EX II. I got it simply in time for a marriage photo shoot, and that i should say i used to be NOT disappointed.

First, its battery life is outstanding. I shot shot over 650 photos with the flash, most of them bouncing off the tall ceiling, with just one set of four AA batteries.

Compared to the 420EX, the benefits are huge. The recycling time is amazingly quick. It really reminded me of the time the shutted lag distinction I noticed after I switched from a compact digital camera to a digital SLR! you'll be able to even burst the flash for 0.5 a dozen of exposures (bounced off ceiling!) in two seconds (interesting for the garter throw!), to match the speed of the Canon 20D or 30D.

The quality of the TTL exposures is additionally singificantly higher than what i might get with the 420EX. ninety fifth of my shots were spot on, using full TTL mode. it's consistently wonderful.

Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flash

The fact that you simply solely have to be compelled to press one button to maneuver the pinnacle of the flash in all directions was what sold me on the 580. What a pleasure to be able to switch from landscape to portrait and still be able to bounce the flash! this straightforward operation took 3+ seconds on the 420, and just one second on this one, that is that the distinction between obtaining the shot or missing it (or simply leaving behind attempting to urge a vertical shot with the flash). the sunshine reflector is additionally a pleasant feature, to urge a catchlight in your subjects' eyes. However, it will not work if you shoot in portrait mode (will replicate off to the proper side).

But the ONE feature that's definitely worth the upgrade alone is that the hot shoes fast unleash mount. simply slide the lever to the proper, it clips right into position and is securely mounted on the recent shoe. it's after all simply as simple to unmount the flash.

One different terribly nice feature is that the direct access to "second curtain flash", just by pressing a button on the flash. No have to be compelled to go wandering into the Cn functions of the camera body!

On the down aspect, the flash could be a heap larger and bulkier than the 420EX, though not that abundant heavier. it's a bit harder to suit it in my camera bag currently. it's longer, wider and deeper. the sole thanks to extremely be able to tell is to possess it in your hands. Comparative photos will not extremely do an honest job at showing the distinction in size. That said, I had it mounted on my camera the total day, for over eight hours, and it never bothered me.

I haven't even scratched the surface of everything that this flash will do, manual mode, etc, since I got it two days before the marriage and did not have time to explore its options. i am unable to compare it to the 580EX mark I either, since i'm returning from the 420. however if you are within the market to upgrade your flash, do not look twice, and find the mark II quickly.

To add things up, i might say that this flash is price each penny, and well definitely worth the value premium compared to the 420EX. It beats it hands down in each single class, has an impressive battery life, and is totally silent (I forgot to say that). i'm not knowledgeable, simply an enthusiast, however I will positively justify its value, at my level. In different words, you do not have to be compelled to try it to a 5D or a 1D Mark III to note what proportion higher than the 420EX it performs.

I scan a quote where somebody said they'd rather have an honest flash than another lens. Bingo! And this is often an excellent flash. I did not own the first 580, therefore i am unable to touch upon that. I do but own the 430EX and this is often a terrific upgrade from that already terribly capable flash.
The 580 - in case you do not recognize - is capable of serving because the master in a very master/slave relationship with different Canon flashes. It can, when utilized in ETTL mode, configure and verify the flash wants of up to a few sets of flashes. you'll be able to set ratios, produce sets and program everything from this one flash.
Alone, it's one powerful very little beast! True, it is not a studio monolight, however attempt taking a group of these out to the park - or maybe the front yard - to urge shots of the children on promenade night. this is often lots larger than my 430, however not therefore huge that it's not a part of my 'everyday' kit.
For those considering a lesser flash - if you ever shall use multiple flashes or want a a lot of powerful flash, that 430 or 220 can limit what you'll be able to do. If I might do it everywhere once more, i might actually purchase the 580 1st, last and everything in between.

I have the 420EX for my Rebel XT. it is a good flash, however does not manufacture wonderful footage. I promised somebody i might take footage of their wedding and knew I had to urge one thing higher. i used to be a great deal eyeing the new Sigma EF-530 DG Super. sadly there wasn't abundant definite info offered, therefore I found it laborious to form an informed call. within the finish i made a decision to pay the additional cash, recognize that this flash are going to be compatible with future cameras while not hassles and can reliably management my 420EX.

Without a doubt, this flash takes wonderful footage. It conjointly has enough power - the 420EX footage forever sounded like it absolutely was on its limit. i'm quite the electronics geek and figured most of the controls out while not consulting the handbook. i used to be worried concerning having to take a seat down and learn all abouth the MASTER/SLAVE choices it's, however to my relief, I switched it into Master, the 420EX into Slave, and wow, the ensuing footage are merely beautiful with the 580EX II as Master with the Catchlight Panel and therefore the 420EX bounced.

Yes, this flash isn't low cost, however currently that I actually have it, i do not regret spending the cash one bit. If you are attempting to make a decision, i like to recommend to pay the additional cash. i am unable to imagine this flash can disappoint you.

I ought to mention that the battery panel door could be a new style compared to the 420EX and appears terribly durable.

I submitted some shut down footage here. particularly of the rear panel that appears to be laborious to search out footage of.

Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight Flash for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

The next nice speedlight from Nikon is here, introducing the Nikon SB-700, a high-performance transportable flash with a bunch of recent options designed to form flash photography easy, correct and artistic. The SB-700 is for photographers probing for an on-camera Speedlight giving additional power for bigger depth-of-field management than the built-in flash or for users probing for a compact Speedlight that may be got wind of as a Commander or an overseas in wireless flash set-ups moreover as people who need to upgrade from their existing or older Nikon Speedlight.

I have been a Nikon user since the 70's, and have owned each F and D professional bodies, and associated flash units. I even have seen all the reviews on the online criticizing Nikon for omitting the laptop input and power input - they recognize if they included these options it'd have killed sales of the SB900. Like others, unless i want most power from my flash (which is rare); I will get by with the SB600 and most recently, the SB400 for many of my (fill) flash work. I mainly use the flash for fill and have it on the camera 100% of the time. For "walking around" the SB400 works nice owing to its size and weight. once I have to be compelled to use bounce flash, I usually use the SB600. I still own the SB800 and SB900 however realize myself rarely using them.

Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight Flash

The SB700 fills the gap - the most effective options of the flash are the smaller size and weight (vs. the SB900); easier to use controls (I hated the SB600/800 controls); and eventually the onerous plastic snap-on color correction filters. Nikon must build these (hard) filters for the SB900 - attempting to use their gels and holder within the field is crazy - you'll either lose or injury the gels the primary time you're operating stressed. additionally the bounce dome is additionally smaller than the massive unit that comes w/ the SB900.

The SB700 is that the 1st Nikon flash I've used that appears to urge the exposure right on. Normally I even have to line the flash exposure to -0.7 to urge what I contemplate a standard exposure. I don't ought to try this on the SB700. I additionally just like the proven fact that Nikon has gone to switches (vs. menu) to modify} from Auto to Manual exposure - I care less regarding the switch for the flash coverage as that is not a setting i modify - however others who do change it'll just like the proven fact that it is simple to change on the fly.

Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight Flash

Back to the facility input and laptop sync input - people who are fans of the Stobist are terribly sad regarding the shortcoming to use their laptop cords to their Pocket Wizards - most people don't like using the laptop - Hot shoe cords; an extra issue to travel wrong within the electrical chain. Personally - I miss the facility input for the Nikon battery packs - and though i am certain Quantum can commence w/ a battery adapter to use w/ their packs, i have never use my Quantum packs in years since I've converted to using the Nikon external packs that use the AA's.

That said - suppose the SB700 can become the de facto customary flash; and also the SB800 can still sell on eBay and Craig's list for additional then they sold new (I'm keeping mine) for the Strobist fans.

As to the overheating issue; haven't had the unit long enough to check if it reacts an equivalent because the SB900 - another review said that the unit slows down on recycle time before shutting down - I've had my 900 shut down; therefore I even have to hold a backup simply in case.

As of these days (12/13/10) feels like Amazon is not even taking orders for the unit; if you're in a very hurry counsel checking your native camera store - mine told me they were obtaining some in periodically -

Bottom line: if you're within the marketplace for a Nikon flash - obtain this one!

The best sound quality of any wearable camera, period. Professional quality sound with AGC (automatic gain control) tuned for action sports and motorsports. With the ability to reduce the sound of wind noise at high speeds, GoPro HD HERO line of cameras are simply the best sounding wearable sports cameras available. Fully automatic with no manual settings or adjustments needed, the camera will adjust the sound level automatically to maintain and optimum sound recording.

Also includes an optional non-waterproof back door that can be used in activities where waterproofness is not needed. This feature allows more sound into the protective housing, resulting in fuller, more immersive soundtracks. That said, the AGC (automatic gain control) does an excellent job of automatically increasing the microphone's sensitivity to provide impressive sound even when the camera is sealed in the waterproof housing with the waterproof back door.

The camera has four modes - video (in several resolutions), still pictures, self-timer still pictures, and interval photos (pictures every few seconds). The lens gives a tremendously wide wild view which is nice for HD's 9:16. It will shoot 1080p, 960p 720p (at 30 and 60 frames per second), and 480 (at 60 frames per second) line resolutions. It uses standard SDHC memory cards and has an internal battery which recharges via a USB cable. The recorded audio is very good both inside and outside of the motor sports waterproof case that came with my kit. Video is relatively good, not as vivid as a dedicated camcorder but the resolution is good. My kit came with a variety of mounts and a suction cup mount for windows and car body use. The waterproof case comes with two backs, one that is watertight and one that is not for better audio when waterproof use isn't required. The kit comes with connectors for connecting the camera up to an HDTV monitor (component video) or a TV monitor (composite video). A neat feature in the menu is that you can flip both the video and still photos so you can shoot with the camera upside down without a problem.

I plugged the foscam camera into my router with the included cable and when checking my router settings for the IP address, I may access the camera straight from a browser. On the settings page I solely changed the username/password, adjusted the pan/tilt speed and added my wireless settings. There are plenty of alternative choices, however these are the fundamentals to induce up and running and permit placement of the camera anywhere at intervals vary of your wireless router with solely the facility adapter.

The picture is obvious and works in all light-weight conditions from total darkness to sunlight. The IR is extremely helpful in each of my toddlers rooms at nighttime. The wide angle permits me to ascertain plenty and with the pan/tilt I will see everything.

Foscam

If you have never interfaced with your router's software before (and you are not brave!) than this might not be for you. It is not hard to set up. You plug in its AC adapter and plug it into your router. Follow the instructions and wow.
The picture is wonderful. The motion alarm is fantastic. We placed on of these inside our barn across the street from our home, about 350 feet away. We added an $80. antenna to our router from Hawking, also available on Amazon, and poof! I can now see what all the sqwak is at 2AM in my barn with out walking all the way out there! Wow, wow, wow. The pan and tilt features are really nice. We setup another at our front door, and three "out door" styles around the outside of the property. I don't know how long this black "indoor" will last in the extreme temps and humitity of our barn and front porch, but that is not Foscam's problem. I will update at the end of the winter, or sooner if they die during winter!

Well they made it through the winter. We have been able to review motion detection alarm triggered video clips that were saved on our pc. We have been able to remote pan across the barn to see who is making all the racket and why. It is lovely to know who has been on your porch while you were sleeping! The cameras are wonderful. the there is an antenna you can get on amazon that will extend you wireless cababilities. We view the inside and outside of our barn across the street. These are great.

This is a great product. Yes the setup takes time... but what do you expect? Its a complicated device. If you wanted something easy.. go hire someone to install it for you. Just because you think you know networking and you have trouble with this. You obviously don't know networking like you thought you did. Go read a book instead of leaving terrible comments. Product works great. Up and running. Motion Detect armed. Getting notifications. And I have yet to take full advantage of this system. Great product!!

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens

If you pay your time with the lens are one among your best friends. it's a good lens particularly for individuals on a budget (like me). to require the most effective footage you can't simply twist it on and visit shooting. Take the time to be told concerning the lens (change shutter speeds, ISO settings, aperture, white balances, etc) and it'll show you where it shines - a bit like the L series lenses and therefore the 70-200mm IS.

This lens encompasses a solid create and sounds like it'll last forever. Then again, as you zoom the lens will extend and is plastic. So, be careful if you're doing sports. you will get it knocked off. It did well on behalf of me, though. Extending whereas zooming makes putting a hood on the lens very little|a trifle|to a small degree|somewhat|slightly|alittle} (very little; thus little that you just cannot tell) awkward and it's kinda goofy.

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens

I like the lens as a result of it's not as bulky because the 70-200mm lens and it's very mobile. it's as fast as another lenses, not as fast as some, and quicker than others. it'll offer you nice quality footage. It will have its limits, however: in low lightweight things not having the ability to require it back a few stops and find a wider aperture won't offer you constant shot as a 70-200mm. Then again, like I said, it does not drop to that f/2.8 and doesn't value all that money. This has been the only downside on behalf of me concerning the lens.

I use this lens for portraits (Tashina, Samantha), for sports (see gallery), and music (Shawn Pander - See Gallery). So, it's pretty versatile. I actually have nonetheless to use with it flash, however that's as a result of I merely don't prefer to use flash. I actually have nonetheless to use it during a studio setting, however after I do i will be able to amend this review and add a few of these footage similarly.

This lens comes highly counseled from me. i'm not an enormous time, highly paid, or renowned photographer. I a bit like to shoot and like what I shoot to be of the most effective quality that I will have AND afford at the time. So, if you're like me and can't pay the required $1,500 - $1,700 on a 70-200mm IS lens then pay your cash on this lens. you'll not be sorry for it.

Featuring the newest 3-stop Image Stabilizer for outstanding camera shake reduction, the EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM zoom lens additionally options super responsive autofocus. Replacing the popular EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM, the world's initial interchangeable lens with Image Stabilizer (IS), the lens is anticipated to attractiveness to serious amateur nature and sports photographers trying to attain outstanding results whereas shooting hand-held.

IS dramatically reduces image blur caused by camera shake. The EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM options Canon's latest 3-stop IS, a one-stop improvement over its predecessor. this permits shutter races to 3 stops slower than would preferably be potential, with no perceptible increase in image blur. Photographers normally shooting a 300mm frame handheld at 1/500 second will acquire the equivalent result with a shutter speed of simply 1/60 second, vastly extending choices in low-light conditions.

Gyro sensors detect unwanted vibrations, triggering the corresponding movement of a correcting lens cluster perpendicular to the optical axis. This alters the sunshine path, returning the image to its correct position on the sensor or film plane.

The EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM provides 2-mode IS for shooting immobile subjects. Mode one stabilizes the image along each the horizontal and vertical axes. For shooting whereas panning to follow a moving subject, Mode two turns off correction within the panned direction and prevents the impact of dragging the topic back through the frame. IS switches off automatically when the camera is mounted on a tripod, so preventing feedback loops between the IS sensor and stabilizer motor vibrations.

The micro USM motor found within the EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM employs ultra-sonic frequency vibrations to drive auto focus with unrivalled speed and near-silent operation. sensible holding torque stops the lens with precision and accuracy, the moment it arrives at the proper focus purpose and while not overshoot. A high-speed CPU and optimised AF algorithm end in a major increase of AF speed compared to that of its predecessor.

A zoom ring locking mechanism is only if locks the zoom at the wide-angle setting. This ensures that the lens is carried or stored in its most compact position, preventing potential harm caused by the lens extending and hitting obstacles when being carried mounted on a camera with a strap.

Eye-Fi Mobile X2: Images from the camera directly into the smartphone

The camera of the iPhone has indeed its weaknesses, it has one great advantage: the owner of the Apple smartphone can their images instantly share with the whole world, at least as long as they have UMTS reception and pay the data transfer can (which is abroad, unfortunately, still a problem). Some digital camera manufacturers have therefore begun to equip their models with Wi-Fi at least. Properly enforced, this has never - who does not care for it, may not pay the surcharge.

Eye-Fi Mobile X2

With and without detour
For quite some time since the Eye-Fi card is an interesting alternative. I have years ago when they first it was only in the U.S., ever have to send a copy - has done a lot since then. A year ago I have already introduced the Eye-Fi X2 models, there is now with the Eye-Fi Mobile X2 is an interesting update. From the outside, the Eye-Fi cards from ordinary SD memory cards can not be distinguished. It is also important so that they fit into any camera really, the regular SD cards swallows. Their big advantage is the built-in WiFi module that connects each camera to the network.

The effort must first configure what the vendor provides both Windows and Mac versions of its control program. The process is pretty simple, basically everything happens by itself In the simplest case, which was already the very first Eye-Fi card, then move the images via wireless from the camera to the computer. While this saves a cable, but is not yet so useful. Interestingly there is already a direct upload to the Web: It is the map on a computer on a particular wireless network, and then the detour via the computer and the images and videos delivered directly to Flickr, Picasa, Facebook or YouTube.

Eye-Fi Mobile X2

The cards can photos and videos directly to iPhone or upload Android smartphones and tablets. The necessary apps are free. The trick is simple: The card generates while it is still in the camera, its own Wi-Fi, through which it communicates with the mobile phone or tablet.

If you switch the mode of "infinite memory" one, even on the card fits, that is not about them: If there is only little space, it deletes the images that are already transferred and secured. However, this did not work just nice feature in the test. Neither Sony nor one in a Kodak camera was the Eye-Fi card, the WLAN required span, even though everything was configured correctly and found the latest software version used. I just hope that there was an error on the test device - then there is an upgrade soon.

If it works for, the direct mode via Mobile technology is an interesting combination is that the characteristics of a good photograph "real" camera combine with the online capabilities of tablet and smartphone. Apple users solve their problem so similar, how they should connect with their camera phone and tablet.

What is the IPTC standard?

The IPTC-NAA standard describes a method for storing information, image and graphic files.

This method is widely used among others in the TIFF and JPEG are used, which are now used by all digital cameras. The IPTC-NAA standard has been defined already in 1990, well before the mass-market boom of said graphic formats. The basic idea is quite simple: photos, here today, especially with a digital camera captured images should be provided with additional text information. This information can be in the next step, for example through special programs or even read now through online services and processes.

Originally the method was designed for the professional press, which would make her countless material by the insertion of so-called "metadata" (additional information) easier to find. Very important information to the respective author (keyword image rights) were the captions and keywords (tags). Similarly, the IPTC-NAA standard location (today about GPS modules of modern digital cameras easy to determine) and the date and time of each recording is stored.

Since 2003, an expanded version of the IPTC-NAA standards is used, which stores the information in XMP format. Since 2004, remains the core defined IPTC Photo Metadata Standard. From the daily use of digital cameras and related photo services, the concept is here to stay: Popular photo archives as "Flickr" or "Picasa" show after upload a photo important information such as location, name of the photographer or the capture time automatically by reading IPTC metadata to. Were it not for this technique, the author would have to enter all the information by hand.

How do I use backlighting for my photos?

Many counter-light shots will not succeed. But who knows they meet, met exciting artistic accents that can take a photograph into something special. The classical recording lens is the holiday on the beach Photo: When the sun morning or afternoon, not far from the horizon, it inevitably falls into the background of many motives. The result: The picture is in the truest sense of the word "overwhelmed", it is seen that almost nothing more. Accordingly, the colors fade into the background. Properly exploited, the latter effect leads to creative light fringes, which are flanked by outlines and contours.

This may be the object color in many bright colors in the image "shape": very exciting for the inclusion of transparent objects with back light. Try this in context, for example, the inclusion of a reddish or blue-colored vase or a window.

Especially compact cameras offer this almost always a back light scene mode, which adjusts the image output device parameters accordingly. Often the program is called simply "Backlight". If such should not exist, look for a motif program for beach or snow scenes, as asked of the camera have similar requirements.

One classic measure is also compared against the light against the light: You will activate the flash of your camera, even when the sun shines ever so brightly. The visibility of the subject is increased in many cases, at least in places. Since the total exposure fails very problematic, is recommended for DSLR equipment and also a bracketing.
